Do you have a floor that is one of those one piece installed linoleum floors from way back when? Many people still have these floors in their homes and those who can afford to install the latest and greatest are lucky to be able to do that in this economy. If you are not one of those people and your floor is looking extremely worn, then I have a way of breathing new life into linoleum flooring with future.
The items you need are: a small rag, a sponge with a bucket, a scrub brush with a handle, Oxyclean and Future. The first thing you should do is sweep your floor to remove as much dust and debris as you can. Next, in a small container, the type you would get from a deli *medium sized*. Add a scoop of Oxyclean
and begin adding small amounts of water to make a paste.
To begin, you should start at a corner of the room that is the farthest away from the sink so that you can continue working backwards and not have to walk over it! It becomes very slippery! Take a quarter sized clump of the Oxyclean
paste and begin applying with the scrub brush in circles like you were putting wax on a car. If the paste is a little dry then add water to floor not to the container. Continue adding the paste to the floor and working it in well with the brush.
After the floor is dry you need to rinse it thoroughly. When the floor has dried, use a small rag and saturate it with Future. Working from the same corner you started in using the OxyClean paste, apply the Future in small circles taking care to make sure you have coverd all the areas. Work backwards and be prepared to leave that area until it dries based on the manufacturer’s information. Weather conditions may play a part in drying time. I also used Future on my slate floor in my entry way and it made everyone say WOW!
Once it has dried you can enjoy the bright, clean and shiny floor again! This technique takes a bit of elbow grease but is so worth it. It works especially well on floors that are textured and the grime that gets imbedded in them. I have a white textured floor and it is pretty cool to know that I was able to give the floor new life! When you are ready to tackle this project make sure that pets as well as people will not have access to this area for their own safety. I would love to know if you have tried this method and how you liked results by breathing new life into linoleum flooring !
