The economy and the state it is in is certainly not new news. Everyone has been touched by it somehow or someway. People are clipping coupons and making an attempt to learn how to save a buck at the grocery store. People are cutting the ‘luxuries’ out of their lives and some are even making an attempt to learn how to live a new way of life like their grandparents did by being frugal.
One way that has been revealed to help you save some money is to unplug any electrical item in your home that you are not using all the time. It does help you save a bit of money on that electrical bill at the end of the month. You can unplug your cell phone chargers, table lamps or floor lamps, night lights, electric toothbrush chargers, blow driers etc.
To make this become a success so that you see some results reflected in your bills, you need to become a bit obsessed with this concept and follow through on your plan diligently. You need to get the whole family or those living with you to join in on this venture or it just won’t work.
I took that challenge and began to unplug items here that are not used at all parts of the day and have asked my family to help out by doing the same. I have unplugged nightlights, lamps, and small kitchen appliances that are not being used ‘all the time.’ This has been more of my obsession than anyone else here but at least I feel like I am doing my part to help save money. Everything works just fine until you become a victim of your own ways. How? The scenario of the morning rush in the kitchen: getting lunches ready for the day, making breakfast, get the morning paper and try to function like you have been up for hours rather than minutes. I put some toast in the toaster and kept moving to stay productive and on schedule in sort of a ‘zombie state.’ After five minutes I realized my toast ‘still wasn’t done’ and turned around to see it was unplugged! I became a victim of my own ways.
If you have not yet tried unplugging every little thing, give it a try to help yourself save some money. You can probably shave at least $20 or more off your bill just by doing this but be careful to not become a victim of your own ways!
